A claim is a statement that someone puts forward as true. 

 

Positions, reasons, objections and rebuttals are all claims. Here are are some claims we met in earlier sets:

Claims in boxes

If we were building a brick house, we wouldn't use irregular bricks, nor ones that were likely to crumble away.  So too for good arguments: we use clear, solid claims to build them.

Master Builder

Each box in an argument map holds a thought.  We need to capture that thought in one simple, clear and precise sentence, so that anyone could immediately understand it at a glance.
